What's In a Name?

Zenith, noun: the strongest or most successful period of time.

When I was considering what to name my doula business, I thought long and hard. I came up with precious few ideas. One was Phoenix Birth Services, after our third son Phoenix. But I thought that would be confusing since I'm not in Arizona, and I figured there was a business named that in Phoenix already. Nothing else really jumped out at me... Until Zenith.

I grew up on Zenith Avenue. My sister and I were homeschooled for elementary and middle school, so we decided to name our "school" Zenith Academy. Our mom even helped us made school ID cards and get them laminated. Rachel, since she was older, got to be student #001; I was student #002.

Zenith was already a part of who I was, who I am. So it was a logical choice for my business name.

Then I had to decide on "birth services" or "doula services" or some other option! That choice was not as fascinating. I went with "birth services" since, in addition to birth doula services, I also offer placenta encapsulation.

So that's how I landed on Zenith Birth Services. I've been happy with it ever since!
